Paper Mario TTYD - Gamecube control issues

Hello new here.

Anway, I have set up a PS4 controller and I have a few other games, and it runs fine. With Paper Mario TTYD, if I move up or down, it keeps bringing up my menu and map. I noticed if I hold R1, then I can move up or down. Otherwise I can only move left or right in 2d.

Any idea or help for this?

Please post a screenshot of your controller configuration. (Opening the menu and map is triggered by the d-pad.)
