Paper mario TTYD is crashing on the steam deck using the latest beta - 5.0-16793 flatpack from the discover store. It crashes as soon as I get past the health warning screen. I have verified my checksum and tried different settings, but it seems to happen pretty consistently. Does anyone have any advice on getting this game working on the steam deck?

Are you launching Dolphin on the desktop mode and running the game from inside Dolphin, or did you setup a launcher and trying to launch from inside SteamDeck mode?

Ive been doing mostly game mode but it also occurs in desktop. I occasionally get a stream_size_trmp < 16 error first in desktop mode. Then an opcode error right after. So this game has some issues with Dual-Core and desyncing. From my testing, you'll have to either turn off dual-core for this game (may not run at full speed) or turn on Deterministic dual core to try and have less crashes. These can be turn on for only PMTTYD if you right-click on the game and go to Properties.

Thank you so much. turning on deterministic dual core and setting it to fake completion has allowed me to get past the title screen. Can you give me an idea of what each deterministic dual core setting does. I cant seem to find documentation on it. Whats the different between auto, none, and fake completion? 08-14-2022, 10:28 AM
