I've got a snapdragon 845 on a galaxy s9. I've tried the latest build from the play store, 8578, and the dev build from the website, 8610.

The mail opening scene works fine but after the title screen and the boat crosses the water the app crashes. It crashes the same with different processor settings. The prior posts I've seen seem to reference the same but happening in the desktop version.

Just got to say by the way you development guys rule! I never thought I'd be playing (certain) GameCube games at full speed on a mobile phone.

The boat flip animation on this scene uses Bounding Box features to render, which Dolphin emulates through SSBOs, which I'm pretty sure are broken on Android due buggy GPU drivers...
Avell A70 MOB: Core i7-11800H, GeForce RTX 3060, 16 GB DDR4-3200, Windows 11 (Insider Preview)
ASRock Z97M OC Formula: Pentium G3258, GeForce GT 440, 16 GB DDR3-1600, Windows 10 (22H2)

Aww bummer, and those probably aren't getting fixed anytime soon. Are there any chances for workarounds for bad drivers? I know those issues run pretty deep and aren't usually worth fixing but just curious.

You can try this, but it's not guaranteed to work: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-paper-mario-ttyd-boat-crash-right-before-prologue

Go to GFX.ini, and under hacks paste this in:
BBoxPreferStencilImplementation = True

Tested this on Galaxy S8+ Snapdragon and it stopped the crashing. Used Vulkan

This doesn't work period as that setting doesn't affect Vulkan.

Wow, whoops, I managed to bump the old thread with my response. Anyway the workaround didn't do it for me, bummer. I'll just have to wait another day for TTYD.

I found a way "bypass" this problem...you quick save right before the white screen, quit game, turn off GFX backend, load game, press A every now and then till you hear the dialogue running, quick save again, quit, enable GFX backend, and thats it.

The problem has been fixed nowadays. You shouldn't need any workaround if you're using the latest version of Dolphin.
