I've tried many things to potentially get this game working and it simply seems like its just very problematic on Android. Many posts mentioned BBox emulation and to make/edit an ini file and add some specific line of text (which varies depending on how old the build is?). It seems Vulkan can get past the problematic spots with crashes but then textures stop loading and it'll require using savestate + loadstate constantly which takes away from the fun

That is the current state of affairs with broken drivers on Android. No way around it, only the Manufacturer of your SoC can create better drivers, which then have to be implemented by the manufacturer of your device.

I figured that. Thanks for the info. Do ROMs like LineageOS wor better with this dude to the OS using different stuff (though I think they still need the snapdragon drivers from Qualcomm)

I have it on my Galaxy s9 and am wondering how you get past Prof Frankly at the gate crash. I tried with Vulcan but it didn't seem to work.

This game is an extreme pain. To get past it I had to go on my desktop   change the memory card setting to GCI in dolphin. Start a new save thru dolphin on windows, get past the intro. And then transfer it to the GCI folder on my phone and change the memory card type to GCI on dolphin android to load it. GCI saves only allow save states to load from the GCI game save states too Btw. Basically make sure you backup your saves before messing with memory card types or else you might screw something up

There's no way to get past it without using a desktop version of Dolphin? I'd like to get past it on Android and I've searched all over, using bboxenable and the stencilimplementation and switching to vulkan but nothing is working. It either crashes, plays while stuck at gate, or slows down while stuck at gate.

As I said before... That is the state of the Android port, mainly thanks to broken drivers in Android. You could probably wait a couple of years and hope the SoC driver developers create a working driver that supports all that is needed for Dolphin and then PRAY that the manufacturer of the mobile device ever updates their Android version to the one that has that working driver.

Best way to play this game on the go (or any other game on Dolphin) is by getting a decent (non-ultra low power) laptop with a discrete GPU.

Have you tried the software renderer? If it can get past with that then it’s a driver bug for sure, but if it still crashes then it’s a ARM64 JIT bug which could be fixable without new hardware.

It crashes when I use software renderer too... Although it has no images, I open the save right before I open the door and it eventually crashes after I hear the text from prof. frankly and push a button.
