I'm also EST, American server. I usually play with voice chat off, but I'll turn it on if I'm playing competitive games so we can talk strategy. But yeah, Overwatch competitive can get toxic pretty quickly if you are unlucky with who you get matched with. It's one of the reasons I think solo queuing is a lot harder than going in with at least one or two other people. But I'm usually just as happy to play arcade or quick play.
As for people I like to play, I still say D.va is my main, but lately I also play a lot of Junkrat, Symmetra, and Bastion (loving the new buffs). Reaper is about the only attack hero I'm any good with, but I have a lot of fun playing Sombra (even though she sucks).
