Overclocking only one core?

I saw an option in my motherboard to set 'per core' values for overclocking/turbo, although i read in a lot of places that it doesn't work, it has allowed me to overclock to 4.8GHZ (When i could usually only get to 4.5GHZ)
And I have seen massive speed improvements, with lower temperatures.
Basically i underclocked every core, and overclocked a single core, and it runs really well...

Is there anything wrong with this, and why do so many people say it doesn't work?

I have tested games, and they work a whole lot better!

I don't think they mean it doesn't work, generally mean that it's just something they wouldn't do. Have you tested this with PC games as well? im interested to see what kind of performance you get with normal pc games. I honestly don't find anything wrong with it, just makes it look like you have a single strong core with 4 weak cores behind it. As i said though, im interested to see what you get with pc games.

I don't actually think it's speeding up dolphin much, i think the problem to begin with was Turbo Mode on my CPU, that was slowing down games.
Overclocking to or a bit higher than the turbo mode is what gave me great speed improvements.

Im pretty sure, overclocking one core to around 4.8, is about the same as overclocking every core to 4.5, both keep around the same temps.
Although it would be better for other games, i'd say, if i overclocked all to 4.5.

And for some reason my computer wont let me overclock to 4.4, if i choose 4.4, it goes to 4.2, but i can choose 4.5...

Basically, disregard everything i mentioned before, it wasn't the single core overclocking that helped, it was disabling Turbo Mode, and also i might have taken my CPU out and in, which could have fixed issues with the Fan not being in 100%.

Now i'm just confused..
I'f i put every core on auto turbo, it basically stays on 4.4ghz.
But if i set every core to 4.4GHZ turbo, it goes down to 4.2GHZ, but it's faster...

It can be done without issue there is just very little reason to do it since the additional clock rate increase is usually extremely minimal.
