Hey I was just wondering if Dolphin will ever add support for Metal. This was introduced to macs in OS X El Capitan and i'd imagine it would maybe make the emulator run more efficiently. Thanks

Patches are welcome Big Grin

But honestly, I doubt anyone here will use this amount of time to just implement another video backend which can only be used on a few systems. Maybe we'll be happy to get a vulkan backend at some point, at least I think it's much more worth than a metal backend.

But the best way to get dolphin faster on OSX is to complain at apple directly fot not supporting some easy extensions... eg ARB_buffer_storage is easy to implement, generic (no GPU backend changes), and for us very worth... But apple decided not to work on higher OpenGL extensions Sad

Just curious;

Does that criticism apply to all OS X drivers including third party such as nvidia's web drivers?

"The Metal shading language is based on the C++11 Specification"

lol, I'm sure their online shader compiler will be very fast then.
