Hello,

I was curious if anyone was able to build Dolphin running Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6). On the build page I'm told this isn't possible. Are there any plans to fix this later?

The Windows version doesn't fully utilize my hardware as it's running inside a virtual machine. I'd really like to use Dolphin on my Mac with 100% efficiency. Any ideas on how to make this happen?

Also,

Am I going to get better FPS playing Twilight Princess (Wii), or Wind Waker (GC)?

Thanks!

I've tried using good ol' Dolphin (I like rev. 4416, can't remember who compiled it though) on Snow Leopard using Crossover 8.0 and have found that the two main GC Zeldas get the same amount of FPS - however, Windwaker is more playable, because while FPS can be bad sometimes (e.g. looking from one side of an island to the exact opposite side Wink ) it has some nice smooth moments. Twilight princess is just slow full stop Smile.
To be exact, Twilight princess has slowed down to 7 FPS for me while WW has slowed down to I think 10 FPS at the very least (all without frame skip, which seems to cause some bugs).
Windwaker, which I've been able to get further in, has probably been running at an approximate average of 50-60%. (also, remember that there is no 'hyrule field' in Windwaker, and therefore traversing between locations/dungeons etc in Windwaker is much faster).

Also, in both the shadows on the face etc of main characters are stuffed, so their faces look very patchy. This is much easier to put up with on Windwaker, on Twilight princess it looks like Link has picked up some tropical disease on his recent holiday to some tropical rainforest.

I haven't tried Dolphin on crossover games 8.0 yet (I got the demo to see if the direct x support is any better, currently it won't work under normal Crossover), and I haven't seen how Dolphin runs on an emulator either (not too good I presume Tongue).

BTW - I'm running a Mac mini 2.0ghz Intel core 2 duo, with 1gb ram and a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 graphics card with 128mb ram, so this is not any super-computer - chances are most other macs running snow leopard will do better than mine, unless you have an old white macbook Smile

At the moment, my only problem with Dolphin is the fact that opengl goes so slow - if only I had direct x on my mac, I could power through the zelda games *mwahaha*

(EDIT: Well, i tried crossover games, and direct X now recognises my graphics card. now I just have some random 'failed to grab 1gb of continous memory' problem. Argh, so close!)

So you aren't able to build Dolphin on OS X either? That's the main problem. I had no problem running it in a virtual machine.

Nobody knows if Dolphin can be built on Snow Leopard? Why is this the case again? 250+ views and one answer... :[

Thank you.

Probably because (According to a few sources) only about 3-4% of the users browsing common websites, are using a mac, you can't expect an answer that quick from a forum that's probably 90%+ PC/Linux users
