Original Wii and GCN optical drive speed?

Typical DVD disc speeds:

• Laptop drive: ×8 constant angular velocity.
• Desktop drive: ×16 constant angular velocity. (×12 on Dual Layer due to DVD lens maximum reading speed).
  

What is the original speed of the [color=#3333ff]Wii [color=#333333]and [/color][color=#ff3366]GCN [/color][/color]DVD drive?

It seems to be 3x for the GameCube and 6x for the Wii. But keep in mind that since the GC/Wii disc drives are CAV, you will only be able to achieve that speed when reading the outer edge of a 12 cm disc, which is impossible on the GameCube since it only reads 8 cm discs. 3x would normally give you about 4 MiB/s, but the GameCube tops out at about 3 MiB/s at the outer edge of an 8 cm disc.
