Is there a way to use the actual gamecube discs in my PC for dolphin instead of making a back-up of them?
Core2Quad Q6700@2600MHz / Asus P5QL-VM DO / 4GB DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM / Geforce 8800GTS (G92-512MB) / X-Fi XtremeMusic / Win7 Pro 64bit / Ps2 controllers for GC and 2 Real Nintendo WiiMotes for the Wii

Regular ole answer: No

Explanation: Wii and GC games both use a special Nintendo format for the data on the disc. In addition to being non-standard in terms of data headers and such, the disc is actually read by the hardware *backwards*, literally the laser moves from the outside to the inside on a Wii/GC disc, where a normal DVD disc moves from the inside to the outside.

Reading said discs with a PC drive (designed to be interfaced with on a high level) is very tricky, and in fact not possible with a large number of drives. It's a long shot just to be able to create a dump with a particular drive and a hacked driver, much less actually boot the game off it.

I do understand your concern though, and indeed I think if it were more technically possible, it would be an excellent feature. I've got a grand chunk of this HDD dedicated to my dumps of games that I wouldn't mind having back, especially for the games that don't work that well. ^_^

Thanks, that did explain a lot. Figures nintendo would go for the non standard. Sony, didn't think it was necessary i guess. Ps2 games are able to be read on any standard DVD drive, or at least the PCSX2 can.

Some people are lucky to read games with some LG DVD drives, but they are very rare to get

you can read your gamecube or wii disc only with a LG DVD driver (GDR version are better), if you want it try to search for someone who sell it online).
If you want to dump your gc/wii disc you need (LG DVD driver and rawdump software by wiinja)
We Will share all the same end.

You need the drive to don't you? There is no way that with just the drivers you can do it.
