There needs to be a way to disable the yellow text that constantly notifies the user of console activity. I don't even like seeing it when the game starts up. The log options in the config menu do nothing.

Why? i think its quite important especially when it comes to savestates cause it let's you know if its been saved successfully or not, as well as for other things, i'm not sure it can be disabled, i don't see any option for it.

There is currently a tickbox labelled "Write to Window" under "View > Show Log Configuration" which appears to be meant to toggle this function. If you find the log printout useful, you would simply leave the tickbox checked as it is by default. For those of us who find it distracting, unchecking that box should disable the text. Currently, it does not. 08-18-2011, 06:49 PM

I'm sure there are other users out there who would agree that even the game start-up display should be free from things which would not have been on the original console. I'm merely saying that I would prefer to be able to disable even this text, but the real problem is that the log output is also displayed during gameplay and memory card activity, and that is distracting as well. There is an option already implemented in the system to disable all of this, but that option is dysfunctional. The question at this point should not be "Why would anyone want the display to be free of console text," but rather "Why does the option to disable it not function properly?" 08-18-2011, 09:26 PM
there's a thread already discussing this and the OP was told to...
Deal With It because there is no plans to remove it 08-18-2011, 11:18 PM

That's wrong, it is meant to enable/disabling outputting logging information into the log window, not the render window... 08-19-2011, 02:25 AM

Well, it seems extremely silly to me that disabling the OSD would not be an option. No other emulator I've seen would emphasize machine notifications over reproduction of the display. 08-19-2011, 04:13 AM

There are also those of us who are more or less purists and want the system as close to the original as possible. Listen, I'm not saying get rid of it, just that providing the option to toggle it on or off would be best for everyone. I really don't see what the problem with that would be and why so many of you seem opposed to that. Just because it doesn't matter to you doesn't mean you should try and discourage those of us who want the option. |
