some people here are stubborn idiots and won't overclock anything. I agree that the i7 is a monster, but there are people with more money than brains
edit: fixed. Thanks fagoatse

fixed. What's the point of buying recent intel cpu's(not only i7, but any 45mn OC like a monster) and not OC them ? Especially when you are into emulation(i7 OC'd should eat pcsx2 in software mode, no big deal for dolphin since it wont benefit from huge cache, additional instructions, etc) It might not be a big deal for pc games now, but will be soon. To sum it up. Push that little motherlalalal to 4.0 and you'll be able to play all games as good as dolphin can. And forget about things you've mentioned, I fail to see how dolphin is resource "hungry". There are only flaws in design and unimplemented features. F S M I believe. 08-25-2009, 02:35 AM

The i7 smokes any other desktop CPU hands down in nearly every application. Look up some CPU benchmarks...
Here's a couple examples... http://www.cpubenchmark.net/ http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2009-...,1398.html http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2009-...,1380.html http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2009-...,1387.html http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2009-...,1404.html http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2009-...,1406.html Now, I'm not saying it doesn't fall behind in some benchmarks, because it does, but 9/10 times that it does fall behind, it's the fault of the test application not supporting some of the features/architecture that the i7 offers, and so the i7 doesn't get fully utilized... But not only does it excel in CPU functions... but it also has Triple Channel Memory architecture... the bandwidth available at the memory level is almost double that of the dual channel. Now, I agree that buying an i7 and not overclocking it is... well.. kinda pointless.. But regardless, even at stock speeds it is a beast. Oh, and to the OP... you come into these forums with no posts or history offering absolutely nothing and "demand" more optimization from an emulator? You have no idea what it takes to emulate such a sophisticated piece of technology. And seeing as how there isn't even ONE other emulator out there that does what dolphin can do already, that kinda says something... And not only does it emulate GC, it does Wii also? Wii has only been out for not even 3 years? I mean holy shit... this emulator is far ahead of some of the other emulators for other systems for their time-frames... Do some research and you'll see that N64 emulation was the same way when they first started emulation... UltraHLE anyone? That emulator was terrible when it was in it's initial development... the only thing that really ran was Mario 64, and even that was just god-awful... Not to mention the devs... who are pouring their own free time into this? Go fuck yourself, if I was a mod, you'd have been banned already. I hate noobs like you that just expect something to work and when it doesn't, blame the creators without knowing anything about it... 08-25-2009, 03:03 PM
Guys this guy should help develop the dolphin. He obviously has some good ideas!

we know i7 is faster clock for clock. It's just that cheaper overclocked cpus will always beat more expensive cpus at stock.

well, he(op) doesn't overclock, so the comparison is fair.
he complains, because he thinks that his 920 on stock is far superior to most other cpus used and he still cant play properly. But in fact, 920 on stock is beaten easy by many overclocked cpus, making his complaint useless. of course, even a c2d on 4 ghz will have a hard time with z:tp, but i bet its much faster then i7 on 2,67ghz
Dolphin with Quadcore Support soon ? ....Attention : knowledge inside
