I plan on running TLOZ Wind Waker, and that's about it. I've tried many different configurations only to come upon lag each time, but the amount can vary. I'm looking for a configuration that'll be able to give me the best balance of speed and detail, but I'm willing to sacrifice a little bit on the detail side for a better framerate.

My specs are

OS
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
CPU
Intel Pentium E5400 @ 2.70GHz (Dual Core)
RAM
6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 399MHz (6-6-6-18)
GPU
1024MB GeForce 9500 GT (nVidia)

Yes, not a good setup, but it's what I have. I'm thinking about overclocking my CPU. If I do, what speed do you recommend overclocking it to?

Also, what programs could I possibly run alongside Dolphin to help clear up processes and CPU usage. (Programs like GameBooster)

Thanks for any help!

Not even if I clocked it to lets say, 3.2 GHz?

I've heard the E5400 has plenty of room for overclocking.

i don't think so.

the architecture is too bad for Dolphin. You can try it, but i don't guarantee, that you can play your games well.

Well, I'm already trying Windwaker and it runs somewhat decently (with some slowdowns of course). It's still playable though. I just don't think I have the best settings on for what I have.

[X] Dual Core Speedup
[X] Enable Idle Skipping

Backend: OpenGL
Aspect Ratio: Auto
Internal Resolution:960x792
No Anti-Aliasing
[X] Force Texture Filtering
[X] Fast Mini Maps
[X] Disable per pixel depth
[X] Disable Fog

Those are all the major settings I've set (I think)

Didn't screenshot all the tabs, just the ones I thought were necessary. Any other info that might be needed?

Set Framelimit to "Off" and as backend choose "Direct3D9" (OpenGL is slow).

Well, the rest seems to be ok. To improve the graphic, disable "Force Texture Filtering", "Disable Fog" and activate "Scaled EFB Copy".

Thanks for the input. I changed to D3D9 and that did offer a little bit of improvement.

Unfortunately, disabling framelimit gives me a ton of lag, making the game unplayable. Why might this be?

Don't know. Well, now we're cleverer Wink Set the Framelimit back to 30.

btw: You can also try ICC optimized Dolphin builds to increase the FPS rate. Your Intel Pentium supports Supplemental Streaming SIMD Extensions 3 (SSSE3). Just click on the link in my signature and test, if my ICC builds are faster Wink
