If you update to the latest dev build (5.0-12024 as of writing) does it still cause problems?

Yes, it was still causing problems, but I got it working again. I uninstalled the drivers and then plugged the adapter into a USB 2.0 slot (before it was in USB 3.0 slots) and then reinstalled the drivers there. Now Dolphin can open and run games without having the PC crash.
