So I updated Dolphin to the latest build after a few months of not updating and for some reason trying to open Dolphin literally crashes my PC with a KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error and no other information shown outside from it.

Does anyone know what to do?

Can you find the version that started doing this?

All I know is that I updated to the latest beta build (5.0-11991) and trying to start up Dolphin.exe just straight up crashes my PC with BSOD.

I also tried using the Ishiiruka build and the same result happens.

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED is usually caused by a driver failing when software does something the driver doesn't like. Does the BSOD tell you what driver failed? Your best bet would be to update whatever driver failed.

Also check for any available Windows updates, and get the latest Nvidia GPU driver to perform a clean Nvidia GPU driver install (a highly probable suspect).

If those don't work you could try running a Windows repair using the sfc tool in command prompt

The BSOD doesn't say what driver failed. It only tells me the stop code.

I've checked for any available Windows update, and there's no new update. I'm using the latest NVIDIA GPU driver (445.98 Hotfix) and did a clean uninstall with DDU and reinstalled the driver.

And I've already done the sfc tool scan and repair function.

All of these did not work for me and Dolphin still crashes my whole PC upon opening the program.

Okay, so I went to check the crash minidumps using WhoCrashed and found this on some of them:

On Sun 5/10/2020 6:50:55 PM your computer crashed or a problem was reported
crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\051020-13203-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x1C2390)
Bugcheck code: 0x1E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF8053A2B49F7, 0x0, 0x18)
Error: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: MicrosoftR WindowsR Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode program generated an exception which the error handler did not catch.
This might be a case of memory corruption. This may be because of a hardware issue such as faulty RAM, overheating (thermal issue) or because of a buggy driver.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

Also, if I open Dolphin fast enough as soon as I login, I can open/run it, but I can't start any games since it leads into another PC BSOD crash.

Do you get the same crash if you run Prime95 or Furmark benchmarks?

What happens if you boot into safe mode and try to run Dolphin?

Did you install any new hardware recently or overclock CPU/GPU/RAM?

Are you running the latest BIOS for your motherboard?

If you download and run the Intel Driver & Support Assistant, does it give you any available updates?

I used both benchmarks, and nothing much from them.

Dolphin seems to open up fine multiple times on safe mode. No crashes from there.

No, I have not installed any new hardware recently. I did overclock my CPU/GPU/RAM months ago, but I've already tried setting their clocks back to default and still get the same full BSOD crash.

Yes, I'm running the latest BIOS for my motherboard.

No, it doesn't give any available driver updates.

Oh, I think I figured it out. I did a clean install of Dolphin to reset settings and whatnot and as soon as I tried to change controller settings to the GameCube adapter, that's when my PC crashes and shows the BSOD.

Now that that's known, should I reinstall drivers with Zadig again?

Update: Okay, I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the GC adapter and...still crashes... On better news, it's definitely the adapter that's causing the crash because once I remove it from the USB slot, Dolphin opens up just fine and dandy.

Update 2: Okay, so I completely uninstalled the filter driver and just plugged in the adapter. Dolphin detects it, but it gives a message on the controller Configure window "Error Opening Adapter: Other error" with "Enable Rumble" and "Simulate DK Bongos" all grayed out.

Edit: And while I can play games now, I just can't use the GC adapter at all and can only resort to using other controllers like the Pro Controller or XBOne Controller.
