I noticed this in the latest development build and was curious if it works properly? How exactly would one enable it?
OpenAL ProLogic Decoder?

Enable the option and make sure your PC audio device can use 5.1 speakers. You may have to rename soft_oal.dll to OpenAL32.dll in the Dolphin folder, too. The game may need an option toggled to switch the sound to "Surround".

Thanks for that! Does it work well? Which games use it noticeably so I can check if it is working?

Resident Evil 4 uses Prologic II, as does Phantasy Star Online, Metroid Prime 2/3 (can't recall if 1 does). FZeroGX does I think
Wind Waker/Twilight princess and Skyward Sword as well. Only forseeable problem with OAL is that OAL doesn't support LFE channel. Though I can't recall whether any GCN/Wii games use LFE. 05-06-2013, 01:01 PM

Sorry for the grave-dig, but it's relevant to this thread. Rogue Leader has a great surround sound test located in Options -> Special Features. However, I think the game's audio is bugged to the point of messing up this test because I cannot even get proper stereo sound to work on Dolphin 4.0.1 (when the TIE fighter is off-screen the audio fades out to nothing until it comes back on-screen; you're supposed to hear the TIE fighter the entire time).
Interestingly enough, the surround sound test is so un-demanding that I can even run it at full speed on my Athlon 64 x2 at stock clocks (2.5GHz) and on my integrated Radeon HD4200 GPU.

Thanks for pointing this feature of the game out. I do hear the TIE fighter the entire time. Do you have your PC's speaker set up for 5.1 surround?
The Dolby Pro Logic II code is quite light on the processor (surprisingly). 12-16-2013, 01:59 PM

My PC is set for stereo headphones since I don't even have speakers on my PC.
For surround sound I normally use the surround-to-binaural decoder in Razer Synapse, but that didn't seem to work with Dolphin so I disabled it and was trying to get just plain old stereo sound.
