only black screen under linux

Ive got the same issue in ubuntu 9.10, black screen (and no sound either) with new super mario bros.
With mario kart I get the screen where it demostrates how to hold the wiimote, but doesn't respond to keyboard or logitech rumble 2 gamepad.

Anyone has a working setup in ubuntu 9.10?
