Obviously both options are sub par so if that's all you come in here to say then don't bother. My main question is the speed and bugginess of r7p0 vs r12p0/12p1. The reason for this was I saw a video of a Helio X27 device running batman begins at a similiar speed to a S820 device on nougat running the same game, and to my knowledge devices like the Mate 8 and S7 never reach those speeds due to the r12 drivers. Can anybody comment on this? Was it a fluke?. Is Mediatek hacking life?
Older Mali Drivers vs New Mali Drivers?

Good question, indeed r7p0 have better performance in Dolphin comparing to r12p1. The best one so far "shader bug free" was r4p0, later Mali driver got shader bug regression on r6p0 and it's still continue to migrate from one revision to another. As for r12p0/r12p1, performance regression is terrible, I even thought at some point it may have something to do with M1 iCache fix that was implemented few months after S7 released. Purely a theory, they both badly broken but I get twice as much fps on r7p0 than on r12p1.
I've managed to find few videos on r4p0 (keep in mind it's bottlenecked as it's only ES 3.1, so no buffer_storage and base_vertex): Dragon Ball Z Budokai: https://youtu.be/6YU2Tfnhgig LOZ Four Swords: https://youtu.be/0zC-g1R0hbI MK Double Dash: https://youtu.be/2-TAZVx5usU 03-11-2017, 02:07 PM

I saw this video too, I got really suprised, Mali T880MP4 on Helio X27 performing better than Mali T880MP12 on Exynos 8890. When Exynos S7 get better drivers I bet it will outperform SD 820, Exynos 8890's single-threading performance is faster and the chip is cooler.

Just noticed X20/27 are using same driver revision and no bugs with shader sampling: r7p0-02rel0.948612737e9aa7b431a5c9b2a197dce2

has anyone tested or seen tests of the BiFrost r2p0 drivers? Are they fixed or still borked?

Is it possible to check my GPU driver version without root? I have low performance on PPSSPP on Galaxy J7 and I think it's some driver issue, my 4 years old Galaxy SII runs better.
