Official GameCube Controller and Wii U adapter not working

So I got the official Wii U adapter for my GC controller for my Mac (OSX 10.10.5, Macbook Pro w/ Retina 13 inch), however, I have been having some problems with it. I went to the wiki and downloaded the .kext package and executed it, and yet still it didn't work. When I plug it in, it says adapter detected but when I start my gc games, it's my keyboard that works and not the controller. It seems I would need to configure the controller, but the wiki says this isn't necessary. Please help!
