Lately I've been playing Mario Galaxy and I've been noticing that I'll occasionally slow down lower than 100% for a few seconds then it will speed back up. Any ideas how to fix this? Or is this normal? It happens at the beginning of every level as I'm flying in, as well as a bunch of other places. Also - is there any way to see the speed % while in full screen? Thanks.

Edit: It also happens in Mario Galaxy when I'm picking up a bunch of starbits at one time. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that it's just how that game is.
Have you tried using one of the latest dev builds?

It says laptop, but this will probably give you a bump in performance: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-unofficial-laptop-performance-guide
Follow the power management stuff and GPU part.

The Starbits one is normal, that happens to me too.

Sorry for not posting in a while. The slowdowns occur even when I reduce my settings substantially. I wouldn't even notice them if it wasn't for the sound getting distorted. Oddly enough sometimes I get some slowdown when the frame rate goes above 60 (like 61-62).

Is there any way to get the sound to not distort dispite the game slowing down?

Switch to OpenAL sound backend. You can increase the latency t reduce sound stuttering.

Just use DSound/XAudio2 with the latest development builds... No stuttering and smaller latency compared to the timestretching feature of OpenAL...
