thanks for all the feedback.

sounds like i need to create a "GameSettings" folder inside my "dolphin-emu" directory. Then i need to put G8M into it https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/blob/master/Data/Sys/GameSettings/G8M.ini

I will try this out tonight

Is there any reason the GameSettings folder is not included with the android build by default?
