NVIDIA SHIELD TV can't access external drive in dolphin

Hello,
PLEASE HELP!
So I'm very new to Dolphin. Heard a lot about it, but finally decided to get into it. I have an NVIDIA Shield TV (2017 version) that I use for Kodi and just decided, hmm, why not put Dolphin on here?

Got it on here, but I can't use the roms I downloaded!!!! I've tried watching videos, searching for people with the same issues, tried several dolphin versions, and I cannot find a solution.

So this is what happens:

I have my roms on my 300gb external harddrive which I got from my pc, and then plugged it into my NVST. I go to ES file explorer to make sure I see and can access my harddrive and everything seems fine. Once I go into Dolphin, I go to add a folder, and keep going "up one level" but I get to a blank screen and never see my harddrive. Has anyone had this issue? I have like 10 games lined up I was ready to play :/
