nVidia Shield Suggestions

I joined just to give some suggestions on Shield. The emulator works pretty well for low stress games (New Super Mario Bros, Super Paper Mario, and sometimes Kirby Epic Yarn). There are only a few small issues I'm encountering that are pretty frustrating.

1. Unbind keys: There is an option to but no way to use it. If you press down to highlight it the down button is bound as that key. This could even be fixed by a 'Default Controls' or just unbinding everything and making the user rebind it all.

2. Sideways Wiimote Support: Currently if I play Super Paper Mario I have to bind all my controls like I'm using a sideways Wiimote. If I switch to another game I have to rebind it all. Just frustrating. A simple 'Sideways Wiimote' box for the game would remedy this like you have for the main emulator.

3. Preview: Currently the game art take what looks like a 100x100 image and blows it up to roughly 500x500. It also arranges them how it feels. I'd like to be able to rename or set individual settings for each game if needed.

4. Exit Game Crash: Every single time I exit a game it crashes and asks to restart my app. Not sure why it does that. Even tried to reinstall again.

Yeah, the UI is missing a bunch of important features. It would be nice if a Java dev could fix that up.

Dunno what's going on with the exit game crash though.

2 -don't want to make your purchase decisions but Mayflash Dolphin Bar solves this or play games that have a GC controller or Classic Controller mode.
3 you can take a screen shot to replace this image and you can manually change ini files per game to add things like cheats, hacks and force classic controller per game.
4 totes on Vulkan. seems to be much more graceful using OGL.
hope this helps.

Here is a question. Is the Nvidia Shield worth even getting at its pretty high current price on Amazon of about 300 bucks? I already have an iPad MacbookAir and 3DS for mobile gaming so I dont even need a Switch in my life. But even if I didnt own say a 3DS or iPad I really dont know if I could justify either a Switch or a Shield in my life as a 3DS I think is superior to both all onto itself. EVen New Mario Bros on it is arguably close to as good as the wii version no? WIth the dlc I mean.

Do I really need a Shield or Switch in my life? Is playing new mario bros from the wii in its graphical prowess through emulation as an experience worth it as there is no single 2d mario on the switch currently and the 3ds version is arguably worse?

I have a (new)3DS, a Switch, a Wii U, a desktop PC and 2 laptops (1 light one for basic work on the go, 1 superfast one for lanparties)

If it is just NSMBWii (or 2D Mario) you want to play on the go then you are currently out of luck with a Switch... but it already has so many awesome games that I can absolutely recommend it. I would currently advise against a Shield device for Dolphin because it uses Android, and because the Android port is not as good as you might hope. If you're in China... then yes, you could get a Shield device since Nintendo released a couple of games on Shield including NSMBWii.

Probably your MacAir is too slow to run any game decently (I tried on my GF's early 2016 MacAir and was unable to run the more demanding games at a consistant framerate.)

mac air is good for emulation though. psp is also hreat just for emulation, but youre stuck playing mario hacks of super mario world which are still good. basically i am an absolute addict of 2d mario games, its like they make me smile just turning them on and i have little need for any other games or genres. i do like donkey kong country too but found the 3ds port unresponsive control wise or hard to play when compared to the snes ones.

MacAir is certainly good enough to emulate the older consoles up to the PS1 but after that it really does get too slow, meaning not full FPS (eg. 25/50FPS for PAL and 30/60FPS for NTSC games)

Are you mixing the Shield tablet and the Shield Android TV? Only the latter has 64 bit, so the mobile one doesn't support dolphin at all.
