So about every 30 seconds now i get a error with my display drivers in dolphin While playing. Dolphin minimizes, i get terrible repeating sound and then after the drivers recover i have to minimize dolphin then maximize it back, can play for another 30 seconds then i have to repeat.

Edit: want to also include this is a recent event.

System is:

Nvidia Gt 240 1gig ddr5
MSI 970a-g45 motherboard
4 Gigs Kingston Hyperx blue (1600: 9-9-9-27)
Phenom 2 x2 550 Black edition (4 cores unlocked with 3.5ghz oc)
Windows 7 64 bit ultimate

All i play is Skyward sword and so i cannot test it on any other game. From my research it seems dolphin doesn't play nice with my card. Is there a fix for this? If not would switching to my GT 220 share these problems?

Edit: clearing only dolphin/WII game I play/own is skyward sword.

what your describing there is an issue you would encounter if the card is faulty. there are from my experience 3 possibles.
1. the PSU isn't powerful enough to run the card at full load, e.g. 12v rail only supports 14amp but card draws 18amp. solution PSU better suited to the card.
2. the ram on the card itself has decided its time to stop playing nice. solution make sure you havent overclocked the ram, if not buy a new card.
3. card is passing its safe operating temp, solution strip the bugger apply new thermal paste, consider 3rd party cooling. or the damage has been done.... again new card.

sorry but it doesn't sound like a dolphin issue to me but more of a hardware problem.

Well, option 4 is that the software setup is broken. Did you try updating or re-installing the drivers?

I re-installed the drivers right after i posted this, stopped it from doing it for about 30 min. As for the card being bad i play dead island, and Warcraft on max setting for hours without any problems. And switching between dx9 and dx11 didn't change anything either.

Lot of posts like this one http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=2887 Lead me to believe its just a dolphin issue. I'll try the gt 220 tonight and post back.

Psu is a Dynex 400 watt. (system caps out around 267-290 watts under max load) and I'd expect the computer to shut down if it was maxing the PSU.

Might re-install windows tonight since after some searching it could be a windows problem dealing with the 2 programs.

345 watts? really. and no the system wouldnt shut off. the 12v rail is used for gpu, dvd, hdd etc, but the mobo and cpu use the other volt rails. i dont mean to be rude, but the sake of ease im going to explain this in a way similar to a child. i've discovered over the years just assuming people understand just causes more issues.

think of it like this, your 12v is the drip feeding valuable fluids to the gpu, however the tube is limited and can only provide so many amps (in your case 14 if on the yellow, or 15 if on the yellow/black). the gpu will still receive fluid and work, even at a reduced rate but with issues, just like its slowly dying of dehydration. it will take a long time but it will degrade.

your PSU as you stated isnt even what would be considered a good PSU by a long way. when they state 400w they assume people will be buying gold rated 80+ 400w, or silver at worst. for a bronze 80+ that would be upped to 450w. and non rated psu's would get pushed to 500/550w. you got yourself a non rated 400w there buddy, sorry but that card will never run off that psu.

and the reason, is your running a GPU that under full load if ddr3 uses around 140w and if its the drr5 more like 180w. and both require, that's MUST have 18amps on the 12v rail.

chances are adding an extra $40 (i assume your from the US) when you went to best buy would of been a better option. too many people buy decent hardware then see some crappie cheap psu that says the wattage they need and suddenly become scrooge's. so sorry to say you might have dig into them pockets and get yourself a better psu, and hope the card hasn't been damaged. as under powering them can cause issues.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT a crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Total Continuous Amperage Available on the Rail(s) is the most important.

wow just did some research on that psu, and you have a real lemon.

even though it states it is a 2 12v rail psu it is a single because they are both wired to the same over current protection circuit. and in a test using a power meter with a 0.2% accuracy both rails gave 168w 14amps under 100% load. factor in that your HDD, dvd anything that plugs in using molex like fan controllers as well as fans not connected directly to the MOBO are sucking on that too. that PSU is well under coming even close to powering your nvidia.

Can't complain on the PSU issue, it has ran for 13 hours a day for the past 7 months without a hiccup. Pretty good for only spending $9.00 usd. replacing the Psu is last resort. I will try my other two choices (using a gt220 and reinstalling windows 7) before i considering that as no other game is acting like under full load.
