Nunchuck stuck in forward right direction

I have the American version of Super Mario Galaxy 2 (SB401?). Since I have to point for certain things and use the joystick on the nunchuck for general movement (and I don't have a USB sensor bar), I want to play with the nunchuck in my left hand and the computer mouse in my right hand, while the wii mote just lies around (because I don't have a third hand).

This works fine (except for shaking, but that's a different question), but the Nunchuck joystick is apparently stuck at the top right, because Mario keeps walking in that direction. I can make him strafe a bit to the left or right using the joystick, but the overall direction stays the same.

Interestingly, if I click Movie->Start recording input, he doesn't do that anymore, but Mario keeps ducking and no input from the real wiimote or nunchuck are accepted anymore. And I apparently can't turn recording off again by any other way than closing the game.

I tried separating the Nunchuck and reconnecting it to the Wiimote while playing, while in the home screen, while the game is not running, before connecting it to my PC, etc., but it doesn't help. I even tried holding it to the top right while connecting it to see if Mario stands still at the default position, but that changed nothing.

Settings: https://i.stack.imgur.com/qogqh.png

How do I stop this? If it's possible to just fix the "Start recording" behaviour, that would also be ok, although inconvenient, because I would have to click it every time I start the game.

Hybrid Wiimote is pretty much broken, and Dolphin can't communicate with real Wii Remotes when recording a movie. So right now, there just isn't really a good way to do what you want to do.

Are there any plans to fix it? If yes, in roughly what timeframe (1 month, 1 year, 10 years)?

It's hard to say. Nobody has plans to fix it right now, so a fix could take anything between weeks and years, if it does end up getting fixed.

It indeed is very broken, I'd say just remove it since I have seen a couple of these kind of questions in the past few days, so I guess it currently does more harm than good...

Removing it helps noone. Why not just rename the menu point to "Hybrid (unstable)"?

Sounds good to me Big Grin

Edit: looking at it now, changing it would make the text longer than the rest of the options making it look off(?).

Isn't the length difference between
"Real Wiimote" and
"Emulated Wiimote" greater than the length difference between
"Emulated Wiimote" and
"Hybrid (unstable)"?
In the font I see here it's even between the two lengths.
You can also call it "beta", "WIP" or "broken" if you like that more.
Also that shouldn't be the deciding factor for wherever or not a feature stays in the program.

I think removing it is better. Allows someone to come back and make it anew from a fresh start instead of working on top of something fundamentally broken.

Well, I wasn't considering removing "wiimote" from it for consistency sake.
