Hi guys I am a new member, I have been coming to these forums for quiet some time but never made an account until today because I was waiting for the emulator to develop further now that it can get somewhat playable speeds in games, I was wondering what would be the best settings for the best performance I can get out of my note 5, its a vanilla note 5 updated to 6.0 marshmellow, if someone could tell me what would be the best kernel for my note 5 it would be appreciated.

Stock settings for the most part for Dolphin. It'll still be pretty slow in most games.
Can't speak for the kernel though. 05-12-2016, 10:30 PM

I have a gs6, which has the same software and CPU/GPU as your note 5. Ever since the 6.0.1 update, dolphin glitches with the GPU and there are several graphical glitches. If you know of a way to either update the GPU of the driver or downgrade to lollipop, please let me know because those are the only two ways dolphin could work again, otherwise, we're dead in the water. When on lollipop, the gs6 could play some games almost full speed with a custom kernel, but now it's a waste of time.

Well I haven't run into problems so far, I am looking at some kernels to mess with the interpreter, I am also looking it into ways to update the drivers manually I will let you know if I find something in this thread. Edit: It seems theres no way to update the gpu drivers which means we are in samsungs hands and judging by how long it took for the MM update to come out its gonna be easily another year until we see them update note 5 to android N and fix broken drivers 05-15-2016, 09:05 AM
ARM themselves provides the user space drivers for updated driver revisions. In theory you should be able to update the drivers using this package after circumventing security measures. It will break OTA's and require manually flashing stock images before updating.

That is true, but its risky and it can brick your device, considering the note 5 is only 8 months old and the warranty is still intact its a big risk to take on a new device, I would consider it when the warranty ends, but right now its better to stay stock and not to trip knox to void the warranty, I haven't even flashed a custom kernel or rom to begin with just holding out, waiting to see what samsung do and mali t760 is in line for es 3.2 and vulkan support which should bump up performance, better to wait than to have a brick. |
