How do you guys get Mupen64Plus to work? It doesn't even have a GUI, and what plugins do you use for it?
None of the N64 VC games seem to work besides Mario 64

@neobrain - Welcome to N64 emulation. There isn't a plugin-less emulator put there with decent compatibility. MESS is a mess for playing N64 games. A necessary evil to some. Me? I just want to play my games, so I could not care less

I know, I just like to point out the idiocy behind developing emulators with a plugin interface for core emulation functionality at every occasion possible.

Fwiw, I would love to see an accurate, plugin-less N64 emulator along the lines of Mednafen's PSX core. Nothing to configure except scaling filters really. It's been the most stable PSX emulator I've yet to try. Although it lacks support for increasing the internal resolution, it's pretty solid and highly compatible. An N64 equivalent would be great.

What about Project64? Anyway, I don't know why neobrain thinks that plugin architecture is idiocy. It's great and provides modularity.

Modularity is useless when you can chose between 10 options when none of them are perfect and each one has its own specific game breaker. 09-06-2013, 02:31 AM

I feel for them, the best alternative for N64 emulation is using a plugin that uses Glide. Fucking Glide, the API written for 3dfx Voodoo GPUs and used by no-one ever since. |
