No control input is working (Xbox controller or keyboard)

I just recently got the new Mac with Mountain Lion but I am unable to control my game with my computer keyboard or my xbox controller.

I've used dolphin for a while on my Windows desktop as well as my old Mac that I just sold, so I know about making sure to have the xbox controller driver installed, have all the buttons configured, etc. Both of my xbox controllers (One microsoft, one off-brand) worked perfectly with the other computers but this one is giving me trouble.

I'm able to configure all the buttons with no problem as my controller shows up under my system preferences as well as under dolphins "GCPad" tab when I'm mapping the buttons. But once I start the game, the controller does not do anything at all.

I tried using my computers keyboard but that doesn't work either even when I have it set up as the input device. I can't get past the first screen.
I've even tried downloading an older version of Dolphin but no luck.

Any ideas?

Make sure the controller is inserted under Config > GC. Port 1 should be Standard Controller.

GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Factory OC'ed)

Yea I actually went ahead and set both Port 1 and Port 2 to "Standard Controller" just to be sure but it still doesn't work.

When you press the appropriate button does it respond in the Config menu?

What game are you trying to play?

If you're tring to play a Wii game with an emulated gamecube pad or the other way around, then that could give you issues.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Radeon Vega 56
