Some games work, some don't.

If you want to use your old online profiles enter them here:
http://wiimmfi.profeibe.at/
Read it carefully. The transfer only works if you and your friends register(more info on the page).

I was able to connect just fine and have a screenshot. I obviously haven't played a match because no one is on wiimmfi yet XD

wow, they didn't even release the source? How the fuck am I supposed to help here if I can't?

In light of this sad event, I tried online Mario Kart Wii on Dolphin, and to my surprise it worked 100% perfectly at full speed O_O

Good luck with the server emulator though.
Specs: intel i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz;
16Gb RAM; Raedon HD 7900;
Win8 64-Bit

^^ There's a good video about entering your friend codes using http://wiimmfi.profeibe.at/

Also in the comments there are lots of people sharing friend codes so you can add them before you add your code to the database.
Don't delete them as a friend too fast or the codes will not have enough time to be copied over to their server!

I hope we can get at least 10,000 codes by the deadline!

You hope that we can get 10,000 codes by May 20th? We already have exactly 2,131,713 friend codes in our database, which means, that 2,131,713 people will be able to keep their old profile / friend code. And every day the total amount of codes grows.

And we didn't release the source because we want to prevent a split of the MKWii community with many running servers. You can help via testing a non-working game on our server, comparing it with dumps from the official one and telling us, what goes wrong.

What?

WHAT?

Sorry, but that HONESTLY makes no sense at all. How would that end up splitting the MKWii community? Please explain. People are GOING to be wanting to play on a server with many people. Everyone hosting a server wouldn't matter at all, since people will just use the ones that are goodly populated. If little shits with their 384K UP DSL will host them, we can't use them anyways.
Spoiler: (Show Spoiler)
Seriously, I'm starting to believe there's a little more going on here. Maybe legal issues and shitty code. Who knows Dodgy

I'm totally not okay with this.

I don't know If you'd believe me, but an Upstream of 384 kbit/s would in theory be enough for over 500 players the same time (without lags). The data traffic amount to the servers is very low.

You said that all people want to play on a server with many players. But if we'd publish the source now, there won't be one server with many players. Then, there might be 20 servers with 5 players on each server - don't you think one server with 100 players will be better?

Also, the friendcodes would be a problem. The user profile must be known by the server, else you can't login. We solved this problem via downloading the needed data from Nintendo so many people could keep their friend code. But if there would be more servers, you would have to create an own profile for each of this servers.

Summarizing, the Gamespy network protocol was designed for one server and many clients - many servers might lead to problems.

We might publish the source for everyone who wants to host an own server with all the problems I told in the future when our server has established, but at the moment there are no plans for releasing the source.

Has anyone out there bothered getting any wireshark or network traffic packet dumps for some of the less popular games out there, not just the Mario Kart, Pokemon, Smash Bros?

I wish I knew more to contribute other than spreading the word, but I feel like alot of less popular but great games were ignored and may never have their online functions available again.

Pfft, you could have one main server that all the other servers download/upload their profiles from. It would be pretty easy to do if you have enough resources and traffic for your server.

Then again, what you say is basically the same as if Notch went ahead and said: "Oh well, people aren't gonna have their same stuff on different servers, we should just host one instead, to make it easier for retards". That would be pretty stupid imo.

The Minecraft server software is available to the public and EVERYONE can host their own servers. Why do you think some servers have so much more players than others? Because there are more people on others that are more famous. No one, I repeat NO ONE, is going to host a server for just 5 people. It's not worth the money, neither is it worth the time.

Just successfully played MKW online using Wiimmfi Custom WFC. Now I have to wait for more people to use it as I want to play with 11 opponents instead of 1. But it works great, no lag.
