In others words, you like to see retro games follow newer technologies, even if it comes at the price of cutting some original artist vision. Conversely, I like to make sure I play a retro game the same way it was designed to run.
This is my general rule, but I'm a little flexible on it to be honest, it really depends on the game. Sometimes I allow some enhancements to be applied, if it doesn't alter anything within the game's design. In any case, I try to never play a game for the first time with enhancements. I want to know the original experience before modifying it.
