Uhh yeah... Cool presentation... But should I get worried Nintendo?
Luigi's Mansion 3 is definitely the highlight! And it couldn't be any more happier that the Luigi's Mansion 1 remake for the Nintendo 3DS is receiving a co-op mode. Nintendo, you better add co-op to Luigi's Mansion 3 as well... DO IT!
It is cool that New Super Mario Bros. U is coming to the Switch... But where is Super Mario 3D World? Super Mario Maker (or Super Mario Maker 2), Wind Waker HD? Twilight Princess HD? Dare I say... Ocarina of Time HD and Majora's Mask HD for the Switch... Or what about A Link Between Worlds with additional content for the Switch? Yoshi's Crafted World looks interesting, but that isn't going to win me over. I am not really into Animal Crossing, but it is great it is finally coming. I know at least one person who is going to be overjoyed with this. It is weird there was no mention of Fire Emblem or Metroid Prime, but as mentioned here around, Nintendo needs to take it easy with Fire Emblem, very easy.
I didn't really get the Splatoon 2 update trailer. Is it because I never played it before? The trailer is pure vague and doesn't incentive me at all to be interested in it even slightly.
Soooo many indies and... just... titles such as Cities Skylines, Civilization VI, Diablo... Come on... We already have PC for that and most titles have been there for years already. At least Nintendo if you're at it, announce A Hat in Time as well (it is happening by the way). I would like, ya know? Console exclusive titles? A reason to use the Switch? I couldn't care any less for Final Fantasy... I would rather want a new Golden Sun.
It is sad the Nintendo 3DS had the most interesting highlights being worthwhile this direct (Luigi Mansion's 1, Bowser's Inside Story, Kirby's Extra Epic Jarn)
Finally... The Nintendo online service seems like a massive disappointment? So, what exactly is any different from the free service there is now? I couldn't care any less for cloud saves, never relied on them myself. That's why native PC games and emulation provide me full access to maintain and backup my saves on multiple hard drives. Only NES games is another disappointment. So where are the SNES, N64, GC, GB, GBC, GBA, NDS titles? The majority of NES games are simply outdated by today's standard. It is mostly Zelda, Super Mario Bros, Kirby, Metroid and Mega Man (which also is on Steam these days) and perhaps a few more I did forget about which are worth reliving... Which I already have been doing for years... So why should I need them again in my library? Online co-op or versus seems a cool addition, but how would that work with for example Zelda 1? Is the game going to be revamped to support a two-player mode? Smash better has to live up to it's expections if Nintendo doesn't want their online service to fail.
About Smash, finally a non-anime (non-Fire Emblem) characters being added. I am cool with that. Isabella seems cute to include. Now if they continue ahead and still include Waluigi.
Everything else I did not mention was just meh.
Ok... My rant is finished... Back to work. Ranting and all such concluded, announcing Luigi's Mansion 3 was a great start for my day to begin with. Nintendo just didn't needed a Nintendo Direct to announce just that.
