Hmm. The only thing really spoiler-y is the name of one boss, but eh, I'll put it into a spoiler tag just in case!

The boss fight I was complaining about with the 600 attack all moves was the Omar fight (Tressa CH2). In that one, I was considerably overleveled. The recommended level was 22, while all of my characters were level 28-30. I don't care for difficulty, but I adore exploring, so I'm almost always overleveled in RPGs! I was hoping for a relaxing and quick fight, but being overleveled doesn't seem to help any at all in this game, certainly not in that fight at least! The enemies just seem to get harder to account for it. And yes, I bought the best defensive gear I could before I started the chapter, and they were still dealing that kind of nasty damage! And I am using secondary jobs, even min-maxing a little bit with guides to make sure I have good combinations.

And sure I made it through without dying on my first try, it wasn't like I died over and over, it just... it wasn't fun. If I took any risk there was a significant chance I'd just be combo'd to death in a single turn, so I had to make sure to always have BP to spare for breaking and healing. There were no satisfying break setups to deal massive damage, it was just a slog of doing the same thing over and over and over for an hour, hoping the RNG didn't decide to give me a game over on a turn. It was stressful and miserable to play. When I felt like, ok, surely the fight is over soon, I used Analyze and not even half of Omar's health was gone, and UUGGHH! It seriously overstayed its welcome!

For what it's worth, doing some searching, apparently the Omar fight is hated by basically everyone as like THE example of a horrible boss in Octopath Traveler. But honestly all of the chapter 2 bosses have been bad, though not to that extreme. But from what I gathered while searching, this is the norm of the game from this point on.

Just, bleh. Is there even a Big Plot™ in this game, and is it worth doing all of this to reach it? Well... ┐(￣ヘ￣)┌

On a less negative note - Captain Toad is fun! It's easy, but it's a nice little relaxing puzzle game.
