Your early 2000s TVs (many of which were probably CRTs like mine, flat screens we're for rich kids) was very forgiving with this game. It definitely has the "early tech" look that characterizes a bunch of launch titles for 3D systems.
Yes but it's not just a port, it looks more like a remake. If it was just a port, they would be reusing almost all GC assets but with lowered resolution to fit 3DS hardware constraints and I would actually be OK with it looking bad, but that's not the case here, if you look closely at the reveal trailer, they remade various models and textures, the illumination and shadows are sightly different and the ghost gallery, for example, looks very different from the original release (probably remade to better integrate the new boss rush mode). I mean, they invested time and money to rework those assets, so how could they end with something worse than the original and even the sequel?
