With the VR hype on the decline and VR settling into a niche position... it doesn't seem like Nintendo is going into it any time soon, if ever. I'm pretty sure they were just experimenting with it in case VR exploded like so many people seemed to think it would. Nintendo isn't one to jump into the latest fads or technologies, but they are smart about investigating them and leaving the door open to change if they might benefit from it.
