I know they say (I believe, or it was just guessed by the journalists) that Nintendo is not yet about to develop VR on their console. But nevertheless, this shows that a portable console of this size and powerful enough to have beautiful graphics might be enough as is for VR. All they'll have to do is building a proper headset (not just cardboards) for it. It wouldn't require that much development from their side.
Maybe, at most, a plug-in system to play it while charging the console, as it might drain console's battery very quickly.
