TBH, I haven't bought a non-exclusive game on a console in a long time. That's what the PC is for! Just my honest opinion. Feel free to disagree.
I agree, Nintendo consoles since the Gamecube have been all about exclusive titles, especially games Nintendo produces. Just look at the best selling Gamecube and Wii games, those lists are dominated by games Nintendo made and more casual third-party games. The Wii U didn't fail because people weren't buying the latest FPS games for it, it failed because Nintendo didn't make enough games for it and didn't market the system well. All Nintendo needs to do is make sure third-party non-exclusive games run well enough. Kids will play those games on this system if it's the only one they have. I think most teens and adults who already owned a good gaming PC or current gen console had no interest in the Wii U. Nintendo only made a Super Smash Bros Wii U (A bad game in my opinion, though any followup in the series would've been better than Brawl. When you can play Melee using Dolphin why bother?), Super Mario 3D World (which after Super Mario Galaxy 2 didn't look super appealing to me), Mario Kart 8, and Mario Party 10 (which doesn't appeal to most teens/adults).
