The Wii U had an abysmal launch (during the holiday season). I can't be the only one that remembers that, right? I don't recall the PS4 or Xbox One having many games close to launch either? Maybe I'm missing something...
Comparing it to the Wii-U is a non-starter, the Wii-U had 33 games available in its NA launch window. This included Assassin’s Creed III, Mass Effect 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and New Super Mario Bros. U as launch-day titles.
The Switch has 20 games within its launch window (9 launch day), the Xbox One (which was considered a poor launch) had 29 (23 Launch). But the bigger problem is quality. The Switch is leaning on BotW, with too many of its launch titles being effectively shovelware. Its launch window only adds Mario Kart 8 and Skyrim to the mix, both of which are old titles at this point. The Xbox One by comparison launched with Forza 5, Watch Dogs, Assassins Creed IV, Battlefield 4, CoD: Ghosts, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, and Ryse; 8 significant launch day titles, plus all the standard sports games and shovelware. Wolfenstein and Titanfall polished up its launch window.
All that said, if Odyssey and BotW end up being solid, I might end up buying a Switch when it drops to around $200. I'm also hoping more Wii-U titles end up ported, since I never bought one.
Back from the grave and working on textures.
