Chile - Third world Country - Internet speeds range from Dial up - to 20mb. True story. So it's not like that... If a pirate wants a game. He/she it's going to get it in the end. It's not a matter of D/L speed, or money. It's a matter of ethics. A subject where a 80% in the world fails.

So, in my country...I make like $100, currency-converted. Games cost from $90 to ludicrous $200. Consoles are triple that amount. Importing is outta the question as well, due to hideous taxes that increase a product's price around 300% (a $59,90 Final Fantasy XIII for 360 on amazon.com ranked $270 when it arrived here.), unless I smuggle them or some other 'method'. Recently I've been talking with a US friend to send me a game from time to time...where I'd be able to save enough to go through the taxes, as packages from one person to another have less taxes than from company to person.

Besides, piracy is so lodged in here that you see modded consoles everywhere, nearly every wii owner uses softmods, pirated copies are sold both in the streets and large shops...all because of terrible prices of originals. :\
It can change though, a local store was selling some first generation GC/PS2 and even some 360 retail games at like $25, far more bearable.

So, yeah, there's alot of retards out there that have conditions and still pirate games. But not all of us, some have no choice at all.

(ps: By the way, I really think fines and jail should apply in cases where the pirate actually made profit. Small game rippers are everywhere these days, if they were to fine or jail every single one...:> )

I think you're only looking at this from one side, yours. Your not looking at it from the game and console makers point of view. It does not matter if pirates gave them away for free, the company lost money by the person giving away for free what would normally be paid for.

How would you like to work on a project for a few years in the hopes that your talent and hard work would be rewarded by people buying and enjoying your product only to find out that there is someone out there taking money out of your pocket and robbing you of what you deserve by giving away your stuff for free? You probably wouldn't enjoy that very much.

$90 is an standard price for a game here, If the people stops pirating things I think prices could drop. But since Nintendo failed at putting strong barricades to the pirates they have to live with it ( they are like 20.000 modchips for the wii and a 3 step way to run downloaded games in it ( just look at the unlooking ads that google put in this forum )

Yeah , I know that that the homebrew developers put a lot of effort in finding the trucha bug , but when you look at it there is only one word that came to you mind , "FAIL"

Not really. The PS2, for instance, never came officially to Brazil. The GC 'supposedly' was, like the Wii, but the prices are still high and games are quite rare. If they didn't even bother to release them here...serves 'em right, imo.
I just rememberd when I visited Microsoft's brazilian section about the 360. Assassin's Creed and Halo 3 are still listed as 'TBA'. |D

I guess you can look at it any way you like and find a way to justify stealing. I really do not care, but I figured I'd explain it to you anyway.

Well, I'd say they're stealing with prices like that, but...Such is the beauty of opinions. C:

You can't speak that way until you step into his shoes.
And i guess you can look at it any way you like while finding a way to controverse as to why i am horribly wrong.
This is a hard task.
