I've already seen Neobrain's project named Citra, which unfortunately is still in early experimental phases, but I hope it eventually comes out some day.

But later I found another possible one:
*removed links to scam sites*

Though it can seem evident, I'm not sure if both sites are indeed for the same project -and if they are why making 2 websites...-, since the second site's screenshot shows the name a bit modified from first site's screenshot. Whatever the case, they claim it's an already ready-to-go emulator.

Too bad it still only has Windows build (I have Windows but I'm more of a Linux user), and a bit worse that it's closed-source.

Do you know something about this emu? What are your points of view?

And one more curious thing is that they mention providing BIOS files is indeed not legal, but nevertheless they provide download links...

99% chance it's fake, though I don't care to check either. (Not like I have a Windows installation right now anyway.)

Also, Citra isn't neobrain's project, it's bunnei's. neobrain's just writing GPU-related code for it as usual. He also did ppsspp's software renderer, IIRC.

Also, lemme provide just a *bit* more info: there are two other actual 3DS emulators in progress, 3dmoo and Tron3DS (or maybe it was just TronDS, I dunno).

Yeah those sites are fake. They're just trying to capitalize on people who don't understand emulation (and by that I mean people who don't realize that making emulators capable of reliably playing many commercial games is a long process, something that tends to take years). There are a lot of barriers still preventing commercial games from running as I understand it.

For now, put those sites in the same category claiming to emulate the Vita/PS3/PS4/Wii U/Every XBOX with high compatibility. There are emulators for some of the above (RPCS3) but these kinds of emulators are generally in their early stages.

Fake. Sadly 3ds emulation is still in the homebrew only stages. :/

What would they get by making a relatively elaborated fake -website, contact info...-?
They don't even seem to have adds... Or is it that the files to download are possible viruses?

It's usually adware and viruses with fake emulators, with simple trolling being a very distant third.

OK, thanks all.

I'd just have a little last doubt that would be a bit offtopic. Why do you think there have never been emulators for Xbox consoles? Not even for the first one...
Thanks.

I know it´s in Spanish, but you´ll want to read this Wikipedia article (tip: help yourself with Google Translate).

http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emuladores_de_Xbox
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

Actually my native language is Spanish...

Not too much explained in that article. It talks about first Xbox emulation specifically, and just says lack of emulators could be due to lack of hardware capable of emulating the *powerful* Xbox (*must* be a very old article), or lack of the scene's interest. Later it gives a briefing of the 2 Xbox emulators that existed (none of which went beyond beta phase ever) and Microsoft's Xbox emulation.

The "lack of hardware capable of emulate the Xbox" may have been true circa 10 years ago, but now it's evidently different. I guess hardware existing nowadays would be enough to develop a Xbox 360 emulator. The question still is, why it haven't? Even since 2nd half of past decade there was hardware enough to emulate first Xbox, and still never there was; there were no new projects nor someone who continued the 2 mentioned prototypes...
