This is starting to turn into random, unless Axxer's GPA will make him ready enough to help me build a 3DS emulator. Fwiw, 4.0 vs 5.0 GPA scales vary depending on which school you go to. My High School had a 5.0 scale. Most US universities are based on 4.0 (dunno of any that go higher).

Hahaha, sorry for derailing the thread. To answer your questions: honors classes are 5.0 (so AP, IB, Honors) and the others are 4.0 (band for me). I got all A's so I got a 4.8. It's high school guys, not college (where 4.0 is max). I had no life though so it wasn't very pleasant.
SOMEWHAT ON-TOPIC: When do you guys think a 3DS emulator will come? I'm thinking that it will take a good 3 years for the 3DS to be hacked like the Wii was, and at least a good 2 years after that to get a basic 3DS emulator (which wouldn't work well). What do you guys think?

Yeah that sounds about right,3 years to get it done and 2 more for a stable version, this i believe is a minimum

For you non-americans:
In each course you are given a bunch of assignments throughout the semester. Each assignment is worth a certain number of points. For example a simple homework assignment may only be worth 10 points while an exam is worth 200 points. At the end of the semester you tally up how many possible points there were and how many you got. You then calculate a percent. For example if you got 850 out of 1000 points then you have an 85% in the class. Each percent range is assigned a letter and a certain number of "grade points". Nearly all schools and classes use a 5 point system: 90-100% is an A, which is worth 4 grade points 80-89% is a B, which is worth 3 grade points 70-79% is a C, which is worth 2 grade points 60-69% is a D, which is worth 1 grade point 0-59% is an F, which is worth 0 grade points Your GPA (grade point average) is your average grade points from all of your classes. Normally to get a 4.0 GPA you need to have straight As in every single class that you ever took. However many schools offer honors classes that give you an extra grade point and A.P. (advanced placement, or college level) that give you two extra grade points, assuming of course that you pass the class. So it is theoretically possible to get a 6.0 GPA by having nothing but A.P. classes and getting As in all of them. However since it's not possible to structure your schedule that way due to a number of limitations a more realistic maximum would be 5.0. Depending on the class either a D/F or just F is considered failure of a class. Usually both a D and an F are considered a failing grade and you will not get any credit for taking the class unless you retake it and get a higher grade. In some schools or glasses you may see a more complex system, an 8 point system: A, 4.0 GP B+, 3.5 GP B, 3.0 GP C+, 2.5 GP C, 2.0 GP D+, 1.5 GP D, 1.0 GP F, 0.0 GP Where the + indicates a particularly high D, C, or B, almost the next letter up and awards an addition 0.5 GP. Some also have A+ for high As (usually 95% or higher), but they give the same number of GPs as a regular A. Some schools/classes go even further and include a -. I've never seen it before personally but I've heard about it.
"Normally if given a choice between doing something and nothing, I’d choose to do nothing. But I would do something if it helps someone else do nothing. I’d work all night if it meant nothing got done."

APs at my school only give you a 5. Here is what our grading system looks like:
Regular classes (not honors, AP, IB): A -> 4 B -> 3 C -> 2 D -> 1 F -> 0 Honors, AP, and IB classes: A -> 5 B -> 4 C -> 2 ***impossible to get a 3 in an honors class D -> 1 F -> 0 I took 5 honors/AP/IB classes last year, 1 regular class and one PE class (which isn't taken into account for GPA) so I got all A's and had a 4.8 [(5+5+5+5+5+4)/6 ~= 4.8) EDIT: our school gives out A- and A+ (same goes for all letters), but it has no impact on GPs earned.
