A shame, as I was really looking forward to the device generally. But, as someone else suggested, will it be able to use desktop OpenGL with a custom ROM? Because I'm sure tons of those will be made, given the bootloader is unlocked (at least, it should be)

It's a nexus. The Bootloader is always able to be unlocked. Anyways you most likely will be able to use Desktop GL as you can unlock OpenCL for the Nexus 5 even though OpenCL isn't natively allowed.

Even Qualcomm's own Dev drivers ship with OpenCL enabled, which is an easy workaround. However with the nexus 9 it's a bit bigger than dolphin. Many tegra K1 ready apps are expecting the desktop GL context, and without it they will most likely restrict the N9's feature set compared to the shield. Even with a custom driver tweak the apps may be wires to auto restrict any N9's. Google has simply taken the tegra out of the device really. 11-08-2014, 12:50 AM
Hi everybody ! I have the Nexus 9 so if i can help you it will be with pleasure.
I have just try Super mario sunshine and just after the title logo Nintendo it quit. BUT i wanted no notice that i have reach without problem the 30fps to this moment. Config base of the settings. 11-10-2014, 12:39 PM
Sunshine is one of the middle/heavyweight games according to other posts here. It might be a problem.
Do you have Double Dash? Does it run faster than here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTPVWqfcXlc), slower, or about the same? 11-10-2014, 01:30 PM

So i have made a mistake in fact the unzip was not good i hadn't waited enough time for decompress it. So..with the lower settings i have reach for the cinematic introduction about almost 25fps but in game of course not at all. I will say between 11/12 fps to 16/17 to the best. But if you say it's a middle/highweigh game for sure i understand why too. Yeah i have Double dash too it's the édition with the Zelda OOT and MM (also the two ones of the Nes). I have heard that it's can reach this result without optimization for now is it true? I meanfor now it's just thanks to the hardware not the software optimization for Dolphin specially. 11-12-2014, 08:55 AM
The native resolution of nexus 9 is way too high . If you reduce it to 1080p or lower , you will get more performance

Android defaults to 1x IR. I doubt we'd be seeing anything close to working emulation if it was running at a higher resolution
