On monday I am going to buy a new tablet since my Acer Iconia is to shitty to use and I see many similarities between both Tegra K1 tablets but the 64bit processor on the Nexus 9 really catches my eye, I am getting either one for its speed and features, and since I'm kind of the gaming person and I have been on youtube looking at videos of the dolphin emulator being played on both devices: https://youtu.be/S6kdJQ1keAY
https://youtu.be/f1oa9DcQz8I
https://youtu.be/E47zLM-LkNU
https://youtu.be/_o1mJ8mUEWY
That really catches my eye since I do wanna have a device that can play gamecube/wii games at good enough speeds and can play games good period!
So I am here to ask you guys which tablet I should buy.
Hopefully someone who had or used either device can help me out, or someone who is a tech person!
But everybody's inputs are welcome.

Emulation speed on Nexus 9 stands to be better because it supports armv8.  However it lacks desktop OpenGL support which is a huge hit to emulation speed and regular gaming.  If you intend to play regular games I would get the shield.  The nexus 9 would oy be acceptable for emulation.

Nexus 9 has shitty build quality, no support for external storage and since the last update likes to reboot at random. Avoid at all costs.

What last update I might ask? Android 5.1? I thought that update was suppose to patch all the bugs with the device.
I am away of the Screen bleeding, the back being mushy and the lack of external storage, but the latter has been a staple in nexus devices with the exception of the first nexus device the Nexus One, were the other issues fixed like everyone is saying?(Screen bleeding,Back mushiness)

How much space USABLE space does the nexus have after lollipop and the update you must do when you first start it up? And anyone with a shield tablet knows the same thing as well?

No reboots that I have on 5.1.1 N9. But yea no GL support it's quite a big issue, games like trine 2 won't work, you don't get shield store exclusives as well. But still Dolphin runs quite well on N9, Android M will bring few useful extensions that dolphin could use, most likely it'll get Vulkan supported driver once API gets released, support should be the longest possible etc. Just get 32gb version if you decide to go for N9

I do dislike the fact there wont be no Nvidia app that lets you play PC quality games on the Nexus, and GL support? Doesn't it have OpenGL 3.1?

It does, but Dolphin requires more features than what GL 3.1 can offer. Dolphin utilize GLES 3xx but due to the emulator specifics it needs some GL 4xx extensions. N9 GPU fully supports it on it's hardware but then you have Google who doesn't want it

Well thats unfortunate, but it does seem like the Nexus can run games better and with little or no sound issues while the Shield does but the Shield is MUCH cheaper and with the SD card it makes it perfect for storing roms and such but I dont want to have to spend my time when I first get it updating it to lollipop...Does anyone know how much usable space is left after lollipop is installed on the shield?

The 5.1.1 update is far more unstable than before, sometimes it reboots several times in a row and will often corrupt whichever app is running at the time, resulting in it being uninstalled when android reloads.

There's been no effort made to fix the issues (no new hardware revision). Another issue is that using chromecast results in a 4:3 letterboxed image being displayed on a widescreen monitor (since that's the native aspect of the tablet) so it's useless for playing widescreen movies or games on an external display.

From a clean install the 16GB Nexus 9 has around 7.5GB free space.

7.5 ARE YOU SERIOUS? Ive watched the review videos and they all show about 8.7 or something near 9GB hell even my crap ass Acer tablet had more usable space after about half was used due to the 4.4 kitkat(little over 9GB left) and for the price of $399 well actually $410-$430 since amazon raised the prices of both the nexus and shield for some reason and having no SD card slot HTC and Google think that shit is worth buying?I dont really care for the 4:3 screen but the other things especially since the issues with screen bleeding and the back being mushy especially since articles were saying that new models released earlier this year appear to have fixed those issues really makes me weary of buying it after all,Plus wtf am I to do with 7.5GB?
