Hey all, this problem didn't exist on older versions of Dolphin (the last version I used that doesn't have this issue is 7084, but I have no idea where this issue stems from or what version it first appeared in, but it's troublesome.)

I'm currently using the latest development build (7729), and now both the widescreen hack and/or the AR Code no longer make the game true widescreen, even with Force 16:9 selected. From what I've tested, the issue exists as far back as 7369 (the one mentioned in the blog post to have substantial boosts for wind waker...though they failed to mention this bug lol)

Now, in older versions (7084, for example, which I used for as long time) the annoying black bars on the sides are only present in windowed mode, but entering full screen would get rid of them and the picture would fill the screen. Using the exact same settings in any version past at least 7369 (possibly earlier, haven't tested) the black bars stay there even in full screen, and they're a bit obnoxious...

I should note that I don't think it's 4:3 either. It's just...messed up...

Also...I noticed this in the 5.0 build too...which is supposedly from 3 months ago, right? Not sure if it's based on a version before or after 7084.

If you haven't been keeping up, there was a topic a while back that pointed out that GameCube/Wii games are very frequently NOT 4:3 or 16:9 and are instead some arbitrary value. So even if you tell Dolphin to "Force 16:9," it won't fill the screen due to the individual games' specific aspect ratios. If you want the game to fill the entire window, tell Dolphin to "Stretch to Window."

Myusak - turn on "Crop" to remove the black bars while keeping the correct aspect ratio.

You can read about it in the July Progress Report.
