Newbie Need help with speed Please :)

I suppose I'll start with my cpu specs. They are as follows:

Intel Core 2 Quad q9550 2.83GHZ
4GB DDR3 Ram
1GB GTX280
Vista 64bit

The only game I've tried is Mario Kart Double Dash. Menu speed is 60FPS but in game slows to 30FPS which seems way to slow. Can someone please inform me as to what the best settings ie: video plugin settings etc... are for use in Dolphin to maintain the highest speeds. I would think that my CPU should be able to handle it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Use the Direct3D video plugin and the EFB copy to Texture option.
