b) IR doesn't really matter for this discussion.. Just because the game renders to a vertical resolution of 528 doesn't mean that's what the game was designed for (in fact, some games will only use 480 lines of the EFB, effectively reducing the IR) :p
Whoa hang on a sec. The ir is the resolution that the games are rendered before being scaled to the output resolution, right? Which is also what happens on dolphin as we can adjust both resolutions separately. How can it use less lines on the framebuffer than the number of lines that is actually rendered?
