A stock cooler with stock voltage. It's all you need. To much testing involved to let processor leave the plant with a possibility of burning your chip out. Besides 3.9 Ghz is necessary to get Dolphin really moving anyhow.

Actually 3.0Ghz+ is all that is needed. You think just because they go to market that they won't run hot? Lest we forget the Prescott debacle and the little furnaces they were.

He won't be able to run most demanding gc/wii games (smg2 for example) at fullspeed with just 3.0GHz, and even few does run still slow on 4.0GHz. He'd better go for highest GHz possible without overheating it, especially if he planned to fast forwarding the demanding wii/gc games to save his gameplay hours.

Just restored my CPU to the stock 3.3Ghz, and SMG2 still ran at 60fps. What games don't run full speed at 4Ghz?

Hyrule field at the end of the TP may not go fullspeed, depending on other factors.

What I'm saying is, if you are running stock voltage you shouldn't need more than stock cooling. And as far as necessary clock speed to run dolphin I will be quite surised to see more than a dozen games playable at that clock.

self-destructing processors are hardly common, let alone entire family of processors. A cpu will only make as much heat as volts it's given, it's a calculable amount (not that I know the equation).

4Ghz and up is widely accepted as a standard for Dolphin. Necessary for far to many games to be properly emulated, that being said it is still not enough speed for some games.

You're kidding right?

I got 3.4GHz and my games run damn fine.

When will you people learn that clock rates are not used to measure cpu performance?
