I can't get New Super Mario Bros. Wii to fill my screen. I've got my PC hooked up to a 50" widescreen 4K TV, and for some reason, NSMB Wii is the only game which won't fill the screen. The game appears to have the exact right aspect ratio for a flat screen tv, but it's only using up maybe 60% of the screen. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Can you provide a picture/screenshot so we know what you mean? You can upload it to an image hosting site like Imgur and put the link here for us to check.

Make sure that the aspect ratio setting in the Wii tab of the general config is set to 16:9.

Ah, it was not. Fixed now. The aspect ratio under Graphics Config was set to auto and the one under Settings > Wii set to 4:3. Now both are set to 16:9 and it fills up the screen perfectly. That said, I'm trying to understand why the previous settings resulted in the game having the right aspect ratio but only filled up part of the screen?

I would suggest keeping the graphics config one at Auto, otherwise the image will be stretched for most GameCube games.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii can only render at a 16:9 aspect ratio, so if your Wii settings say that you're using a 4:3 TV, the game letterboxes the image so that it will look correct on a 4:3 screen. Then Dolphin will notice that it's getting a 4:3 image from the game, so it pillarboxes the image so it will look correct on your 16:9 screen. Dolphin isn't aware that the top and bottom of the 4:3 image is just black.

Got it. Thank you so much!
