New Nvidia Shield Tablet Owner- best version and settings

greetings, loving my new shield tablet, but not having as much success as some. Playing Mario Kart Double Dash on it only getting 19FPS or so, using the latest dev. build. Can someone recommend the best build available (link?) and also optimal cpu/video settings to get the most out of this tablet and emulator? Thanks!
