New notebook: i3 processor [HT 2.13 ghz] vs. p6100 [2.00 ghz]?

go for i3
give you better performance than c2d yes, dolphin only use 2 core, but windows always juggle non multithreaded (that not using all core) between core never use only 2 core to balance load. besie, if want dolphin to focus only on 2 core, try lock cores option, or just set dolphin.exe affinity to only 2 core via task manager just set it on first 2 core (0 and 1), and you'll get dolphin running on 2 physical core (or you could set it on the last 2 core (3 and 4) so core 0 and 2 run on the same physical core, same goes to core number 1 and 3. *you get the idea you'll also can get better result if you get sndy bridge generation laptop. or get i5 variant (first gen or sandy bridge gen), since it has turbo boost that i3 lack. i have i5 430M, 2.27GHz turbo boost to 2.53GHz. never bother to set afinity. tatsunoko vs capcom work great though i'm not really sure how it would scale to that i3

not actually turn off HT, it's still on. but you can set individual process (in this case, dolphin.exe) to run only on certain core
-open task manager -browse running process -on dolphin.exe right click and choose set affinity -assign core

Is that really recommended?
I actually think it's better to find an Notebook with real cores instead, this Hyper Threading stuff makes me uncertain. Sandy Bridge (SB) is about 400Mhz faster than old i series , i3 2310m is on par with i5 430m : Proof
SB Intel HD 3000 isn't that bad , it's somewhere near Ati 5450. See comparision : http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-Gr...948.0.html http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graph...065.0.html But hey you can get Phenom @ 3ghz with that budget : http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satellite-...568&sr=1-2 Laptop: Mini PC :: 07-09-2011, 10:01 AM

lol, i'm not gonna argue about sandy bridge being faster at same clock rate, i agree with you on that matter.
what i meant to say in my previous post, when comparing 430M and 2310, there's potential with turbo boost on i5 series, since dolphin only use 2 core max. though how much, i can't really say (if there's any) since no one actually bench dolphin using both cpu and post result. i tend not to rely much on synthetic bench. especialy when i want to know how it compare when using emulator that rarely use more than 1 (in this case 2 in dolphin) thread/core. ehm, i don't know why i even comparing it with sandy bridge, i actually skimmed post on first page only read that TS want i3 330M, that's why i post 430M result.
