I am planning on getting a new laptop. It is called LENOVO IdeaPad 510 15.6" Laptop - Black

The specs are:

Intel® Core™ i5-6200U Processor
RAM: 8 GB / Storage: 1 TB HDD
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 940MX
Dual-core
2.3 GHz / 2.8 GHz with TurboBoost
Windows 10 64 Bit
Screen resolution is 1920 x 1080

I want to be able to play legend of Zelda skyward sword on at least 720p (will play lower if I have to) and max fps

Other games are on the lines of Mario kart Wii, legend of Zelda twilight princess, Mario bros ect

I want to know if this laptop would run well on dolphin 5.0

Thank you for your help

That should definitely be enough to run those games at 720p, some older, less demanding games might even be able to push 1080p.

Do you  I'll be able to play Mario kart at 60fps at 1080p or at least 45 fps?

The CPU should be able to handle 1080p on that game fine, the only problem is that I'm not sure GPU has enough 'grunt' to be able to push that resolution, as I've never had that particular GPU. My Intel HD 530 intergrated in my CPU can do 1080p on Mario Kart Wii, and that's actually a tad weaker than the GTX 940M, so it may be able to. 720p will be absolutely doable, though.

Just a note, Mario Kart Wii (and Double Dash too) get more demanding if you do multiplayer (local multiplayer, i.e. split-screen). If you're doing 2+ players, it probably will noticeably slow down (probably playable, depending on your tolerance). Single player should do fine though.

Ultra low voltage CPUs are usually weaker than a normal CPU. So don't expect most games will run well with it, most of the time it will be underclocked to save power
Zelda SS is a demanding game . I don't think it will run well on a mobile CPU unless that CPU is clocked at 3.0GHz or higher frequency
Also , the memory bandwidth of GT 940MX is poor . I don't think it will run game at 1080p without slowing down a whole game . Some light-weight games then , maybe
For Dolphin, the Dell 7559 (i7 version) is a much better choice

Much better but the GPU is obsoleted. GTX 1050 ̶i̶̶s̶ ̶o̶̶n̶ ̶p̶̶a̶̶r̶ ̶w̶̶i̶̶t̶̶h̶ ̶G̶̶T̶̶X̶ ̶9̶̶5̶̶0̶ is faster than GTX 950 and also cheaper, run cooler...
GTX 1050 Ti version is faster than both of them
How much does that PC cost ? You can build a way better PC and save a couple of hundred bucks. OEM PC is usually overpriced ...

If you don't mind used laptop then this one is a very good choice at that price range
Core i7 6700HQ @ 2.6 -> 3.5GHz , GTX 970M 6GB , 128GB SSD , 8GB of RAM, Slim form factor all for £600
Better ask them if they still have it under warranty though if you want new PC then no other choice than getting a desktop
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ADMI-1050-GameReady-GAMING-Pre-Installed/dp/B01MPX1O00
i3 6100 @ 3.7GHz , GTX 1050Ti 4GB (which is as fast as GTX 960 4GB), 8GB of DDR4 RAM for £520
